Requirements for the GRK2062 PhD-programme

If you would like to apply to the PhD programme at the GRK2062 please take note of the following requirements:

Applicants to the PhD programme are required to hold either a master's degree, a diploma, or a four-year bachelor's degree (with written thesis) in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, chemistry, physics or in a related discipline. Further details about requirements can be found in the description of the respective project.

All courses, lectures and seminars at the GRK2062 are held in English. Thus, selected candidates have to be fluent in written and spoken English and have to document their proficiency in English. Therefore, a "Test of English as a Foreign Language" (TOEFL) or a test by the "International English Language Testing System" (IELTS) is strongly advised. You do not need one of these tests if

• you are a native speaker of English or
• your entire education has been in English or
• you have studied at least six months at an English-speaking school or university or
• you can prove your proficiency in another way (for example, through your German "Abitur" results)

For your application, two letters of recommendation (e.g. from your Master or Bachelor supervisor) is required. Additionally we expect

• strong scientific motivation
• interest in the activities of the doctoral programme

Applications will be independently reviewed by the Recruitment Committee of the GRK2062. Based on academic qualification, research experience, motivation, scientific background and the letters of recommendation candidates will be selected for Skype interviews. Based on the overall impression promising candidates will be invited for personal interviews in Munich.

Please note: Degrees of applicants from foreign countries will have to be approved by the admissions and registration office of the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich.
